In the case of my Ramza, his faith is relatively high, and he gains well over 700 HP from this little trick. The thing about this trick is that it's dependent on the faith of the target. This is a good thing, because they'll just absorb the holy and gain life. An interesting trick I do is to make my "sorcerer" (Summoner that has mastered all jobs and has math skill as a second ability) cast holy on all the enemies she can, regardless of whether or not it hits Ramza or Orlandu. The neat trick here is that the excalibur gives your character auto haste and absorb holy.

If you notice, my Ramza and Orlandu both have excaliburs. Though they're a pain to level up because they're devilishly slow, they're well worth it, and you can eventually change them back to another job and keep the calculator skill (math skill) as a secondary ability. I highly recommend you invest in a calculator. ^ Yeah, the terms are different, but the game play is generally the same.

in fact, my "sorcerer" can pretty much handle any battle on her own. I usually just put some random character, besides that, my 4 characters are enough. Though I have yet to play the PSP version, I still play (and practically breathed) the original FFT on the PS.
